So this morning a coworker, who at various times claims to have been a big funds manager, claims to have an accounting degree, etc, asked me this morning if I was going to take my money out of the bank.

I said no, why would I.

She said because of the all the financial crisis I was going to lose it and that if it was her bank she'd take out all her money so she wouldn't lose it.

I told her my money was FDIC insured and I didn't have more than $100K in the bank to worry about. I went on to tell her it was attitudes like that that cause the panic and confusion in the first place, and causes more problems in the long run.

She just replied with "well I'd still have to take it all out"

Apparently Ms. Financial Mogul has no clue what FDIC insured means, nor does she "get" how a bank works. And it's only 8:20 in the morning.. I've got to deal with this all day long (it'll be one thing after another).

I'm sure you've all got at least one coworker like this... right?

Yeah--and I think that one coworker just put in her 2 week notice after she got wrote up for not doing her job and suspended for 3 days...which is nice. [img]/LDPforum/ubbthreads/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/grin.gif[/img]

But yeah--big funds manager/accounting degree...where'd she get that stuff from? A crackerjack box? Tell her to watch out for any boxes of rocks or bricks today--they may outwit her.

Only way you would lose it would be if the Gov collapses and if that happens something tells me that money in or out of the bank would be the least of our worrys LOL

No fair - I had hot chocolate in my mouth when I read that!

And the accounting degree claims.. we never really believed it, and after she asked me how to write 33 1/3 as a decimal I REALLY dismissed that claim!

I agree elp6n, but it is imo that the FDIC is in essence worthless. If our economy collapses that much, our money wont be worth the paper its printed on.

Shouldn't she have shown these degrees when she applied for the job?

We don't think they verified the info.
Can't say for sure they checked on my college info, other than one of the other folks that works here knows he graduated with me.
